Here is a collection of links that I hope you will find useful and/or enjoyable! Please let me know if you're linked to on this page and do not wish to be. Or, if you want to be linked to and are not, please let me know why I should link to you!
Professional
- Sanction, Inc.: A company I helped start, which has now reverted to a single-owner proprietorship.
- AOL, LLC: My current full-time employer.
- (ISC)2: I am a CISSP in good standing.
- InfraGard: I've been involved with InfraGard since I worked for BORN in Minneapolis in 2000.
- ISACA: Member since 2004.
Personal
- Dr. William K. Tomhave: This is my father. He is chairman of the Mathematics Department at Concordia College, Moorhead, MN. He is also a member of the school board in Moorhead.
- Bob Alberti: This is a great friend and colleague. We first met while building the security consulting practice at BORN Information Services. Later, we started Sanction together and are currently attempting (slowly) to write
- Luther College: I graduated from Luther in 1998. My wife graduated from Luther in 1999. My father graduated from Luther in 1970. And the funniest part? None of us are Lutheran! :)
- Concordia College: I spent many good hours at Concordia since dad started working there in '85.
Information Security
- PacketStormSecurity: One of the first truly useful security tool and info sites. One of the best place to find exploits on the 'net since the demise of the rootshell site.
- SecurityFocus.com: Hands-down, one of the best infosec portals I've found. And it just keeps getting better!
- MegaSecurity.org: Need a trojan, backdoor or virus? Check out this place!
- The Coroner's Toolkit: From two of the foremost authorities on information security, Dan Farmer and Wietse Venema. This is a toolkit for UNIX compromise postmortem.
- Internet Security Alliance: I don't know much about this group, but am always encouraged to see NPOs pop-up for a worthy cause.
- Freefire: Looking for free infosec tools? Here's another good place to look.
- Bastille Linux: The Bastille Linux project has been evolving for several years. It's goal is to provide automated hardening tools for Linux in order to simplify system hardening.
Music
- Storyhill: I've been following this group since I first saw them at Luther in 1994. They're a wonderful accoustic duo who cover the spectrum from folk to rock to country to blues with ease.
- Brennen Leigh: This fiesty young gal is from my hometown of Moorhead, started out in a band with her brother and mine, and has gone on to be one of the great up-n-coming country voices out of Austin, TX. Check her site out and, more importantly, support her wonderful music! Take a look at her latest album (Devil's On My Trail) and note all the songs she wrote. My favorite is Track 1: Desperately Alone.
- Ellis: With her infectuous giggle, bright blue eyes, and solid vocals, I find Ellis one of the most enjoyable performers around. She'll spin tales for you while she mesmerizes you with her heart-felt lyrics and blues/fusion/jazz/rock styled tunes.
- Peppermint: This grassroots music organization was originally launched by the founders of Storyhill and their friends. It has since lost its steam, but you should still check it out and support them!
- Nickel Creek: This is one of the hottest bands you'll find today, whether it be in the country scene, the folk scene, or somewhere in between. Young, energetic, vibrant, and an excellent mix of talent, sounds and styles. Check out their site and listen to some of their music. Whether it be ballad or reel, these guys have what it takes to make it big and maintain success!
- Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver: If you love bluegrass, then you'll love Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver. I first heard them on A Prairie Home Companion and have loved their music ever since.
- Monty Python's SPAMALOT: The absolute funniest broadway musical I've ever seen!
- Five for Fighting: I've just encountered this group in the last couple years, but really enjoy it. Very emotional music.
- George Winston: The Montana piano wizard. If you need some good chillin' music (New Age section of the store, usually), give it a listen.
Humour
- Three Dead Trolls in a Baggie Though not appropriate for the kiddies, these guys have some very funny material that is especially applicable to those of us in the computer industry! Check out their skit, "The Internet Help Desk", which is a must training video for all help desk personnel!
